Digestive Health
Ancient History was my all time favourite subject in high school. As a student I learnt from Hippocrates that “all health begins in the gut”, thankfully science is now proving that this is indeed the truth.
Did you know?
80% of your immune system is in the digestive system. Commonly referred to as the gut, a healthy gut ensures our bodies can fight infections. If you get sick all the time, it’s likely because your digestive system isn’t healthy.
Your gut is responsible for taking the food you eat and turning it into nutrition for the body. A compromised digestive system means you may not be processing food; you may be malnourished to some extent.
Neurotransmitters, the chemical messengers in the nervous system, are produced in the digestive system. If the gut isn’t healthy, mood can be altered.
Are you experiencing any of the following:
- Loose stools
- Constipation
- Bloating
- Heartburn
- Pain in the abdomen
- Gas
These issues can be precursors to more serious digestive conditions like IBS, SIBO and colitis.
Evidence leads us to believe that these problems originate in the gut, and healing the gut can lead to dramatic improvements; whether we’re talking about autoimmune conditions, allergies and skin conditions or mental and physical performance.
